I am a pastel painter. I chose this medium because of its immediacy and lightness. Pastel allows you freedom to build a richness of color in a single sitting that I did not find in any other kind of painting. It is the purest pigment in a soft medium that can still give you hard edges while maintaining its beautiful fluidity of expression.

Summer's End
"Summer's End" (5" x 7")
I found this old rowboat almost totally submerged in the river one morning while walking my dog. It seemed sad and forgotten, but still lovely with the reflections of all the Fall leaves and crisp blue sky. Quietly waiting.
