I am a pastel painter. I chose this medium because of its immediacy and lightness. Pastel allows you freedom to build a richness of color in a single sitting that I did not find in any other kind of painting. It is the purest pigment in a soft medium that can still give you hard edges while maintaining its beautiful fluidity of expression.

Maxwell 5" x 7"
I went to visit my brother in New York last month and got some cute photos of his baby, Maxwell. Max was a rescue from the streets of the city and my brother and his partner adore him. He is sweet and playful and quite the uptown dog now living in a penthouse apartment with his cat sister Bean. Here we see him relaxing after a hard morning of ball chasing.
This piece was created for a DPW painting challenge. I chose to zoom in on the area I was most interested in which was where the water and crevice met. I like the air of mystery....what's could be in there....a seamonster? a pirate ship? or maybe a quick trip to the land of Narnia? Anyway it was fun.
