Repunzel's Window

"Repunzel's Window"
10" x 20"
I created this painting for an upcoming exhibit at the Cape Cod Art Association entitled "A Breath of Spring". I think this painting is more a "tornado" of spring, but it's hard not to get carried away with flowers. I wanted a fairy tale quality, something a bit otherworldly.  I tried to keep the colors bright and clean and yet there's a darkness under it all...rather like the Brother's Grimm. The painting size and shape hopefully makes you think of a castle tower.  The flowers are white like innocence, but then again, they might grab you and eat you up!

Storm Over A Salt Pond

"Storm Over A Salt Pond"
5" x 7"
The storm made the marsh grass seem to glow with a greenish yellow light. It was a bit windy, but warm and I was kind of waiting for the Hound of the Baskervilles to come galloping across the lonely moor.

Seems Like Just Yesterday

"Seems Like Just Yesterday"
(9" x 12")
I have a show coming up this next week for the Cape Cod Art Association entitled "The Beauty of White".  So obviously all the entries must have white involved to some extent. I was looking for some old photos to get some ideas and came across an old pair of my children's baby shoes and thought it doesn't get much more beautiful than a memory of your babies. So I kept it soft and it really does seem like just yesterday that they were little and wearing these little shoes. My son now works for Kia and my daughter is in college. I feel like I'm 100 years old. Oh well. Cheers!!

Artist Footnote (1/19/2011) - I just found out that this painting was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Cape Cod Exhibit.

Beach Grass in Snow

"Beach Grass in Snow"
9" x 12"
The wind off the ocean creates wonderful edges and shapes in the snow. The sun was going down and gave the brown beach grass a beautiful orange tint. I like that it's almost abstract, but not quite.
