I am a pastel painter. I chose this medium because of its immediacy and lightness. Pastel allows you freedom to build a richness of color in a single sitting that I did not find in any other kind of painting. It is the purest pigment in a soft medium that can still give you hard edges while maintaining its beautiful fluidity of expression.

Being Shadowed
"Being Shadowed" (5" x 7")
I took the reference for this photo in my old Atlanta garden. This little frog was sunning himself on a leaf and I got a great picture of his shadow by taking it from underneath the plant. I love his E.T. feet.
