This painting was in response to the DPW weekly challenge to depict fabric. I grabbed everything out of my sewing scrap box put it on a cool pillow and there it is.

On the Bottom

All of our ponds are covered in a thin layer of ice and that got me thinking about the fish that live in the ponds and what it must be like in the cold on the bottom. So I painted a bass amongst some small new lily pads in a pond not so dark and unwelcoming with hope for the coming spring.

Ducks have so much character. I loved this picture because of all the great color that the bright sunlight created in their white feathers.

Nauset Light

This painting is all about the light. Wave light, water reflections, sky light and, of course, the Nauset Light.

Winter Blue

"Winter Blue"

When the snow finally falls on Cape Cod the color is amazing. The ocean becomes a clear turquoise. The snow collects in pockets on the dunes and becomes shades of blue and purple. The bare sticks of beach foliage are brick red, navy and violet. It's quiet except for the surf and the gulls. You always hear them.
