I am a pastel painter. I chose this medium because of its immediacy and lightness. Pastel allows you freedom to build a richness of color in a single sitting that I did not find in any other kind of painting. It is the purest pigment in a soft medium that can still give you hard edges while maintaining its beautiful fluidity of expression.

Duffy & Lilly
"Duffy & Lilly" 11" x 14"
Are these the cutest dogs or what? I did this portrait from a photo supplied by their dad as a Christmas gift for their mom!! Happy Holidays everyone!!
Thank you so much Diana. I did have a blast painting this. Not only because the dogs were so cute, but I loved the green and red in the background. I also really liked the patterning of the pine needles and the snow. It was really a fun piece to do. Thank you again for your lovely comment.
