I am a pastel painter. I chose this medium because of its immediacy and lightness. Pastel allows you freedom to build a richness of color in a single sitting that I did not find in any other kind of painting. It is the purest pigment in a soft medium that can still give you hard edges while maintaining its beautiful fluidity of expression.

Solitude
"Solitude" (8" x 10")
I wanted a mate for the riding painting I did earlier this week call "Ride At First Light". I really liked the color in the surf. They had the beach all to themselves.
