Safe Among the Berry Blooms

"Safe Among the Berry Blooms"
(5" x 7")
Another addition to my nest series. I particularly enjoyed the rhythm the leaves and vines seems to carry around the nest itself. Almost lyrical.

Waiting

"Waiting"
(6" x 6")
Nests are such a beautiful symbol of home, hearth and love. I never tire of painting them.

Incoming Tide

"Incoming Tide"
(5" x 7")
I really liked the subtle movement of the grass under the water and the color changes at the various depths.

The Art of Low Tide

The Art of Low Tide
(6" x 6")
We have been having extremely high tides lately and when they finally recede there are these wonderful sand sculptures left on the beaches. I was pleased to get this shot before someone made footprints. Of course the seagulls where making the most of the baitfish in the shallows.

Green on the Wing

"Green on the Wing"
(12" x 16")
This painting was all about capturing transparency and light. I played with leaf texture and wing texture and the ways everything changed color as the light hit from different angles. I wanted to keep it light and airy, but at the same time, I wanted the viewer to be able to see some of the wing cells. It was a challenging and fun piece to do (although I will be on line tomorrow looking for some new green pastels.)

Cape Roses

"Cape Roses"
(5" x 7")
The beach roses on Cape Cod are blooming, but fleetingly. Seems like you just notice them and already the petals are starting to fall. They are little jewels in a setting of tan sand and blue water.
